Community Question Time 2021
Community Question Time with Andy Street, Mayor of West Midlands Combined Authority
Community Foundation organised a Community Question Time session on the 9th April 2021 with Andy Street the current Mayor of West Midlands Combined Authority, who is also standing for re-election on the 6 May.
The West Midlands mayor serves the area of Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell, Walsall, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Birmingham and Coventry.
The online session on Zoom was attended by over 30 community organisations from across West Midlands. Important questions were posed to Andy to explain how you will make positive improvements to the area’s economy, housing, skills and transport. Specific questions were also asked on how he will improve community cohesion, reduce hate crime against the Muslim community and tackle youth unemployment.
Andy confirmed his support to a number of community pledges that he will implement if re-elected as Mayor of WMCA.
Parliament Week 2015
Youth COVID-19 Response Personal Experience Study 18-24 year
Community Foundation is supporting University College London institute of Child Health conduct an online study looking at how COVID-19 is affecting the lives, mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 16-24.
- This is going to be really important to understand what the needs are now and moving forward for policy and healthcare
- They are a particular vulnerable group as they tend to fall between the cracks in terms of health provision but also having a voice
- We are concerned they are an especially vulnerable group for mental health through this and being affected by the impacts education and employment
The study is anonymous and online and takes about 15-20 minutes. Here is the link:

Community Foundation organised a community event to mark Parliament Week Fri 20 Nov 2015 at the Lozells Methodist Centre.
Members of the public were invited to join us to hear local councillors and Members of Parliament share their thoughts and experience of going into politics. The event was well attended by members of the community, our volunteers and community wardens to hear from

Sandwell & Birmingham NHS
Community lead Meeting in Soho with Senior Public Sector Agencies
Community Foundation organised a community question time meeting in August 2014 to discuss local issues with service providers, particularly with the Sandwell and Birmingham NHS. The meeting was attended by residents and business in and around Dudley road, with representatives from various public sector bodies , including Richard Samuda the Chairman of Sandwell and Birmingham Hospital NHS trust and the chief Executive Toby Lewis, Shabana Mahmood MP, Cllr Caroline Badley, Cllr Chaman Lal, and Inspector Colin Barnes from West Midlands Police. The meeting, chaired by Nozmul Hussain chief executive of Community Foundation, provided a platform for residents, local business and service providers, to discuss some of the most pressing issues for the area.
Police and Crime Commissioner Election
Community Foundation organised a Community Question Time on the 8th October 2012, with prospective PCC candidates from West Midlands. The event was attended by Bob Jones, Ayoub Khan, Matt Bennett, Cath Hannon, Mike Rumble and Derek Webley. Over 200 people from the local community came to pose questions at the candidates. The event concluded with the candidates being asked to agree and sign a Community Pledge. Below is the pledge signed by Bob Jones who won the election to become West Midlands first Police and Crime Commissioner.
Prior to the Question Time event, we organised a number of community meeting and workshops to raise awareness about the new role of the PCC and what people needed to do to engage in the process.
