2. Business Person Of The Year

Winner: Anisa Haghdadi – 24 years old

 

Achievement: Anisa built this incredible and growing organisation from nothing more than an idea in a matter of months. The company has gone from small meetings and conversations in coffee shops, to an office in the centre of town.

 

Anisa has built a strong organisation, which is true to its aims of empowering, equipping and enabling young people to make change within themselves, and the world around them.

As well as being a socially motivated and altruistic company, Beatfreeks is also a sound business, which is sustainable and going from strength to strength. From humble beginnings Beatfreeks now has three full time and three part time members of staff.

Achievement summary: Chloe went through a lot in the last 12 months but she has turned her life around and is such an inspiration to those going through those rough times. She is a role model to many people. She now works as a youth worker, helping those who are going through a tough time.

Achievement summary:  Hamzah has been actively volunteering to involve other young people in campaigning, lobbying and advocacy work around issues of poverty, he is working on social media campaigns as well as a dialogue between young people and authority officials.  He has always been actively helping other young people to move forward in life. He is currently working with Lord McLennan of Rogart to organise an event at the House of Lords to highlight some of the work around environment and poverty alleviation that he was involved in.

 

5. Best Achievement In Sports Award:

Winner:  Fabian Batchelor – 19 years old

 

Achievement summary: Fabian trains several times a week with Birchfield Harriers in the 100m and 200m. He has achieved a vast quantity of gold medals from a whole range of championship races that he has participated in.

 

6. Campaigner of the Year Award:

Winner:   Yasmeen Akhtar – 17 years old     

 

Achievement summary: Yasmeen has been involved with the National Citizen Service for a number of years. She is a Youth Board member for the black country and in her role has amongst other things raised awareness for mental health illness.

 

7. Employee of the Year Award:

Winner: Hamzah Hafesji – 21 years old

 

Achievement summary:

 

Hamzah Hafesji joined a charity based in Birmingham City University as an intern as part of his Business and Administration degree and spent 9 months away from home in Tanzania working on climate change and poverty alleviation projects.  Whilst there, he took the opportunity to get involved in local initiatives with the charity and developed a number of new projects including a proposal to train 20 villages in environmental sustainability (which also includes an attempt to break the Guinness world record for planting the most trees in Kilimanjaro area) so that these communities can work towards breaking the cycle of poverty. 

 

Youth Achievement Awards 2014 Winner: 

 

HAMZAH HAFESJI – 21 years old

 

Hamzah Hafesji joined a charity based in Birmingham City University as an intern as part of his Business and Administration degree and spent 9 months away from home in Tanzania working on climate change and poverty alleviation projects.
