Holiday Activity Scheme


All Summer Schemes places in Lozells and Small Heath are now fully booked.


Small Heath

Mon 4 Aug - Fri 29 Aug (Primary: 9:00 am–12:45 pm) 


Community Foundation runs a holiday activity scheme for boys and girls aged 5-16 in Lozells and Small Heath during the Easter, Summer and Winter holidays.  The scheme offers sessions tailored to different age groups. Morning sessions are designed for children aged 5-9, while the afternoon sessions  engage those aged 10-16. Children are provided with at least one meal a day and snacks, morning children receive breakfast and afternoon children receive dinner.


Children enjoy a variety of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and energisers. They also learn about nutrition and healthy eating through cooking activities. In addition to daily physical activities we also have classroom based activities included painting, drawing, board games, origami, and more, fostering creativity and teamwork.


Children also take part in day trips to museums, themeparks, hiking, bellboating and other outdoor experiences such as:


  • West Midlands safari Park & Rides

  • Peak District Countryside trekking

  • Seaside

  • Water Sports & Bike Riding


Summer Day Trips


Booking is now open for our Summer Activity Scheme day trips.  Seats will  be allocated on first come first served basis. You can register by completing Day Trip Form. To be eligible for the trips:


  • Children will need to be registered on our Summer Activity Scheme

  • attend the scheme daily

  • demonstrate good behaviour

  • must be accompanied by a parent


The three trips planned for this summer are as follows:


  1. Great Yarmouth Beach (Wed 13th August 2025)

  2. Trekking at Three Shires Head (Thu 21st August 2025)

  3. WM Safari Park and Rides (Thu 28th August 2025)


The trip to Three Shires Head is free for children with valid FSM code. Fees apply for the other trips.

Requirements:

Aged 5–16 years old

In receipt of Free School Meals (FSM)

Willing to participate in daily activities

Benefits:

  • Socialise with other children

  • Take part in fun activities and sports

  • Enjoy day trips through out the scheme

  • Take part in sports and games to stay active and promote a healthy lifestyle.

  • Receive at least one healthy and nutritious meal a day

FAQ:


Who can attend the scheme? Is there any eligibility?

The scheme is open to boys and girls aged 5-16 years old. Priority is given to children in receipt of free school meals.


Do I need to attend the trips with my child?

All children must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian.


Is there a fee to attend the day trips?

The day trips are completely free for children who receive Free School Meals. However, any additional friends of family members who wish to attend will need to pay a small fee. Children who attend the scheme but do not receive FSM will also have to pay a fee to attend the trips.


Can I make payment for day trips on the day of the trip?

No, all payments must be settled in advance of the day trip.


What do I provide my child with daily?

  • Children must wear loose clothing, trainers (no open toed shoes)

  • A bottle of water

  • Bag
