UK Youth Achievement Awards 2020


Community Foundation in partnership with UK Youth had run the FutureProof Youth Achievement Awards, from Thursday 12 November 2020. The sessions took place online every Thursday from 6.30pm - 8pm via Zoom. The programme was ASDAN accredited and is open to young people aged 9 -25 years.


The programme will help you:

- Improve your emotional & social capabilities

- increase motivation & self-esteem

- increase understanding of different perspective

- improve your ability to form and express your views

- Increase your knowledge of how to get involved and make

positive changes in your community

Youth Achievement Awards 2014


The Youth People’s Achievement Award 2014, organised by Community Foundation, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people in the community took place at 6:00pm on Monday 10th November 2014 at the prestigious Badshah Palace Banqueting Suite.


Awards were presented to the 40 finalist by a host of senior Councillors and MPs, chief officers from West Midlands police and fire service and the Health Service. Nozmul Hussain, the Chief Executive of Community Foundation said: “The Youth Achievement Award is a platform to recognise achievements made by young people who have strived hard to achieve great results in education, business, sports, and community activism. "He added: “All the nominations we received this year, were full of amazing achievements made by ordinary young people, coming from ordinary backgrounds. Our judges had a difficult task in selecting the 40 finalist for this year’s awards.”


The annual Youth Achievement Awards set up by Community Foundation has been running since 2011. The awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people in the community, as well as encourage them to continuously develop themselves further and inspire and motivate others.


This year, 68 young people from across West Midlands have been shortlisted and invited with their family to the award ceremony.

The winners for each award category were announced at the Award Ceremony .

2. Business Person Of The Year

Winner: Anisa Haghdadi – 24 years old


Achievement: Anisa built this incredible and growing organisation from nothing more than an idea in a matter of months. The company has gone from small meetings and conversations in coffee shops, to an office in the centre of town.


Anisa has built a strong organisation, which is true to its aims of empowering, equipping and enabling young people to make change within themselves, and the world around them.


As well as being a socially motivated and altruistic company, Beatfreeks is also a sound business, which is sustainable and going from strength to strength. From humble beginnings Beatfreeks now has three full time and three part time members of staff.


3. Role Model Of The Year Award:

Achievement summary: Chloe went through a lot in the last 12 months but she has turned her life around and is such an inspiration to those going through those rough times. She is a role model to many people. She now works as a youth worker, helping those who are going through a tough time.

Winner:   Hamzah Hafesji – 21 years old

Achievement summary:  Hamzah has been actively volunteering to involve other young people in campaigning, lobbying and advocacy work around issues of poverty, he is working on social media campaigns as well as a dialogue between young people and authority officials.  He has always been actively helping other young people to move forward in life. He is currently working with Lord McLennan of Rogart to organise an event at the House of Lords to highlight some of the work around environment and poverty alleviation that he was involved in.


5. Best Achievement In Sports Award:


Finalists:

Qasim Farooq – 14 years old

Ayesha Kauser Hussain - 16 years old


Winner:  Fabian Batchelor – 19 years old

Achievement summary: Fabian trains several times a week with Birchfield Harriers in the 100m and 200m. He has achieved a vast quantity of gold medals from a whole range of championship races that he has participated in.


6. Campaigner of the Year Award:


Finalists:

Kashif Haider – 22 years old

Abu Syddek – 21 years old

Qasim Farooq – 14 years old

Sana Aziz – 19 years old


Winner:   Yasmeen Akhtar – 17 years old

Achievement summary: Yasmeen has been involved with the National Citizen Service for a number of years. She is a Youth Board member for the black country and in her role has amongst other things raised awareness for mental health illness.


7. Employee of the Year Award:

Winner: Hamzah Hafesji – 21 years old

Achievement summary:

Hamzah Hafesji joined a charity based in Birmingham City University as an intern as part of his Business and Administration degree and spent 9 months away from home in Tanzania working on climate change and poverty alleviation projects.  Whilst there, he took the opportunity to get involved in local initiatives with the charity and developed a number of new projects including a proposal to train 20 villages in environmental sustainability (which also includes an attempt to break the Guinness world record for planting the most trees in Kilimanjaro area) so that these communities can work towards breaking the cycle of poverty.


Youth Achievement Awards 2014 Winner:

Hamzah Hafesji – 21 years old


Hamzah Hafesji joined a charity based in Birmingham City University as an intern as part of his Business and Administration degree and spent 9 months away from home in Tanzania working on climate change and poverty alleviation projects. Youth Achievement Awards 2013


The Youth Achievement Awards has been set up by Community Foundation to recognise and celebrate the achievements of young people in the community, as well as to encourage them to continuously develop themselves further and aspire and motivate others.


Following the success of last year’s Student Achievement Awards, we have now expanded the award categories to recognise other achievements made by young people who have strived hard to achieve great results in the field of social, recreational, educational, or in employment.


Any young person aged between 16-25 years old, living, working or studying in West Midlands can be nominated for any of the 7 award categories. Self nomination can also be made with the support of an independent verifier.


The Award Categories are:

1. Outstanding Academic Achievement Award

Student who have strived hard and achieved outstanding academic results in either GCSE, A-Level or a Degree.

2. Business Person of the Year Award

A business set up and ran by a young people, which is now successful established and running.

3. Role Model of the Year Award

A young person who has been/set positive example for other people to follow

4. Volunteer of the Year Award

A young person who has dedicated their time and energy regularly to help others.

5. Best Achievement in Sports Award

A young person who has excelled in a sport and achieved recognition of their sporting skills

6. Campaigner of the Year Award

A young person who has campaigned long and hard to address a community concern nationally or internationally.

7. Employee of the Year Award

A young person who has settled in well into their work and has made a significant effort to carry out their duties over and above the requirements of the jobs.

The Youth Achievement Award Ceremony will be held on 22 October 2013, where our panel of judges will announce the winners, who will be invited with their family to receive one of the awards from our distinguished invited dignitaries, including leading businessman, senior council & government officers, local councillors and Members of Parliament.


Youth Achievement Awards 2012


In 2012, Community Foundation hosted a ‘Student Achievement AwardS 2012’ ceremony to recognise and award students who have achieved a number of ‘A’ star grades in this year’s GCSE and ‘A’ level examinations.


The event took place on Thursday 11th October 2012 at the Royal Suite Banqueting Palace in Perry Barr.  Farooq Murad the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain was the chief guest speaker at the event.


Students across the West Midlands have achieved excellent GCSE and A level results this year. In the West Midlands alone, pupils passed 69.4 per cent of GCSEs at grades A* to C; and for A levels in total, 26.6 per cent of students achieved A or A* grade.


In 2013 we will be hosting the Young People Achievement Awards to recognise achievements in the field of sports, academic excellence, career progression, and community contribution.
